I so enjoy reading your stories, looking at your anime pics,
and vicariously enjoying your deviled eggs.
  -- Nilufar Tofighi

I love anime, cosplay, K-pop, and glam makeup. Grams asked if I'd like to do new page, in addition to my home page, sharing photos of me and some of my favorite memories over these past six years. Would I? Of course I would. So I'm still posting a set of pictures every month in 2020, as I did in 2019. I hope you enjoy them. You can email me about this page at [email protected] with MYA as the first word of the Subject line. I would love to hear from you..

I'm ending this year of posts by presenting my final 2019 photos. The last con of 2019 was Con Alt Delete. These photos are all from December. Matches up perfectly, bringing an end to last con-year & this blog-year. I hope you've enjoyed this year's offerings, & that you'll join me again in 2021, when I'll be doing something a little different ... but still interesting. In the meantime, have a safe & fun holiday season & an awesome start to 2021.

Here's is a test run I did of the white-dress outfit I put together for Persephone, the goddess of Spring, from the Webtoon Lore Olympus, a modern telling of Greek myth.
This is a full shot of my whole Persephone cosplay at Con Alt Delete. Fun fact: The cape is actually a curtain that I sewed onto the dress & added some gemstones! This is Persephone as Hades' queen in the underworld. All in black with a black split crown. Fun fact: Grams saw this & reminded me the Statue of Liberty's crown also has 7 spikes!

Mya is so beautiful, and so creative; that curtain is perfect. She can look so different, even being the same character. It has been fun seeing how she matured over the five years.
  Lucki responds to Nancy B:
Tell me about it. Grams is button-busting proud of her. So is Dad. So is Mom. So is Abuela. Can't wait to see where she goes with it when the pandemic is conquered. Although college is keeping her very busy, so she doesn't even have time to address or even look at comments, sometimes, until long after they come in. Trust me, though, she appreciates them. I happened to be on the phone with her when she finally saw one of yours, and she said "Aww, sweet cute."

Last year continued with an eclectic mix of events, which of course led to an ecletic mix of costume/makeup looks.

In July, at Anime Midwest. I wore healer Akiko Yosano* of the Armed Detective Agency for the first time! She's now one of my fave cosplays!
This was my birthday look; I just did some subtle red makeup to match my outfit. Grams really liked my "Bajoran" earrings. Me too! My Halloween look was based on the most recent Joker (Joaquin Phoenix, Joker, 2019), but a female version. I painted the shirt with acrylics.

*Although also called Yosano Akiko, this graceful, dignified, calm yet forceful, fictional feminist physician with a rare magical healing ability should not be confused with the real-life person the character is named in honor of: Yosano Akiko, the pen name of Sho Ho (1878-1942), who was a business manager, wife and mother, pioneering feminist, author, poet, pacifist, and social reformeer in Japan. Learn something new every day!

The weekend after the BTS concert weekend, I attended ACen (Anime Central) 2019, where I premiered a new cosplay character. Two biggies in succession. Boy, those were the days.

Mya in 2019, once again cosplaying Soul Evans with 2-tone jacket, white wig, & decaled headband.

Mya in 2019 with a red Twizzler, red lipstick, red eye makeup, & Snapchat's little red horns & big honking glasses.
This new cosplay is Dabi, aka Blue-flame, a villain from Boku No Hero Academia. Can't always be a hero.
Here's a familiar face. Soul Evans from Soul Eater also made an appearance at ACen 2019. This wasn't at the convention, it was about a week later. And yes, I'm eating a Twizzler. Devilish good fun.

The fun continued in 2019, whether with a few friends or in a crowd. And believe me, sometimes there definitely was a crowd, especially at the BTS concert at Soldier Field. I didn't realize I'd need to be storing up memories like these.

Out with friends, I took a quick second to post a cute selfie on Snapchat.
On May 11, 2019. I went to my second BTS concert. This was during intermission. Another selfie at the Soldier Field concert. There's "my boys" up in the background.

Mya, in your SC selfie, is something wrong [with] your finger which I don't hope or is that something that goes with what you've got on?
  Mya responds to Bri:
The bandaid?? I just had a tiny cut on my finger.  lol
  Lucki responds to Bri:
Wow, Bri, I didn't even think to ask her before posting her pix. Talk about observant.

A new year here commences with school in early January, a holiday in mid-February, & another Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo in late March.
Mya in 2019 toning it down for school.

Mya in 2019 all in black: Bardot top, opera gloves, & flowing tresses
One random winter morning, my go-to makeup look for school was just eyebrows & mascara. Too bad I couldn'ta worn those flames, too.
This was on Valentine's Day! Snap-chat has some cute filters. Or maybe I should say some sweet(s) - you know, for the sweet ;-) - filters. Lust is an homunculus from the anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I made this cosplay in 2 days, & slinkily wore her at C2E2.

Yeah, my little grandMya is a young lady now ... off to college and all. Quite a shift since we saw her from over six years ago (in her first AniME post, at the start of her 2019 page).

Autumn comes to 2018, complete with more fun fiddly bits, & a new first-ever! in October.

Mya in 2018 going bats, bulb & all, for BTS
Whenever I have the time, I go all out with my makeup. Snapchat filter flames & all. LOL!
Fun fact: The eyeshadow is actually red face paint. Which is why it looks so glossy. This was my first ever BTS concert, at the United Center. See my teeny reflection in my purple bulb? LOL!!

Summer of 2018 here. Pride Parade was on June 24 (Fest ran on 22-23); some fun stuff got done for no particular reason; and Anime West (AMW) 2018 was at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare on July 6-8.

Heading out to my 2nd Pride Parade! The hearts are a Snapchat filter.
Pigtails & floating fire just for fun. The flames are also a Snapchat filter. Just before heading out to AMW. It's a casual monochromatic blue look.

Welcome to 2018. Welcome to another Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo - C2E2 - in April. Welcome to further refinements of favorite cosplay characters ... plus a little laid-back laziness.  ;-)

Mya in 2018 looking very much like Grams' grandMya
Once again, here is student & star setter Kenma Kozume (Kozume Kenma) from the anime Haikyuu!! (Volleyball). But this time, I added cat whiskers. MEOWWW!
And I wanted to do another version of Female Joker. Here's how she came out. The main difference is that I used foundation instead of white face paint. It's a learning curve. I also decided to take a casual day at C2E2 2018. But I couldn't go, ya know, "naked!" So, once again that long wavy wig. (Yo, I can really see Grams in me in this one. Can you?)

As I said before, stay healthy & safe during the pandemic. And enjoy a few more photos from a less tumultuous time.

Mya in 2017 with a colorful glam look

Mya in 2017 with her long, black Wonder Woman wig
This is chanpionship skater Otabek Altin (Otabekku Arutin) from the figure skating anime Yuri!!! on Ice. This is maybe a favorite cosplay of mine only 'cuz of the eye makeup! This heart-art glam look was created due to me buying some makeup for myself, not necessarily cosplay. The makeup I bought just for me mostly consisted of bright colors. I originally bought this wig for a Wonder Woman cosplay I wanted to do. But beforehand, I decided to take some glam shots. (OK, so the T-shirt isn't as glam as I am. LOL)

When I attended my first Pride Parade, I decided to do rainbow eyeliner to tie in my makeup with my outfit/flag. Here is my Kenma Kozume at Anime Midwest 2017. Some cosplay buddies & I decided to do a Haikyuu group cosplay. For fun at home, I decided to test the waters & do some work with a crazy color. Chose blue, & I enjoy the look I created.

I continued to experiment with new & improved looks, & was so pleased when I could cosplay them at 2017 conventions, including that year's Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo - or C2E2 - which was very special because it was on Stan Lee's final convention tour. (Sadly, he died the next year, at the venerable age of 95. His legend lives on.)

Mya in 2017, fighting boredom by playing with an elf-vibe look
Here's my pilot/exploration team member Lance McClain from the cartoon Voltron. The model on my shoulder is Voltron's right leg, Blue Lion, whom Lance temporarily flew. This was when I decided to redo Shizuo Heiwajima from Durarara!! Compared to my first attempt 3 years ago, I think he looked so much better with the new wig! Don't you? This is another version of female Joker that I did for C2E2 in April. I have to admit that the eyeliner is my favorite part of this whole makeup. What's yours?

  Lucki responds to Nancy B:
I concur on the range of looks. And her work has certainly matured. I mean, yeah, she's much better with eye makeup and I ever was (never mind back when I was her age).

Early 2017 continued to be creatively experimental in both cosplay and glam.

My first costest (cosplay test, mirrored) as student & star setter Kenma Kozume (Kozume Kenma) from the anime Haikyuu!! (Volleyball). This is some random mermaid-vibe makeup I designed for a makeup contest. Didn't win. But it was fun to create, & I consider it a winner. This was also a random glam makeup I decided to do because I was bored that day. LOL. I think it sort of gave off an elf vibe.
